LI YEN FRENCH

Li Yen has over 20 years’ experience in EAL, working across all Key Stages, and provides consultancy on issues relating to EAL and language development. In her work for HLS Ltd, she delivers training to schools, universities and conferences across the UK and abroad. She is experienced in providing training for newly qualified teachers and continuing professional development including the Improving Teacher Programme through the DfES (now DfE) Pan London EAL Strategy. Currently she is involved in the Graduate Teacher Programme in partnership with the National College for School Leadership. She is an accredited trainer for LILAC. In addition, Li Yen has trained teachers on educational exchange from Namibia and South Africa. In the past few years, she has provided training in India and Singapore. In the latter, she worked with teachers from schools and polytechnics as well as curriculum developers from the Ministry of Education and master teachers from various academies including the English Language Institute of Singapore. More recently, she has been involved in training European teachers through the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) programme. Li Yen has produced and edited EAL and multilingual teaching materials which are widely used by schools working with EAL learners in the UK.
